for a very special annual event - The Champion Paws 5K, a community celebration with a powerful
purpose! The event will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, TN.
Champion Paws 5K
How Champion Paws 5K Began! Angi Owens, owner of Midsouth Runners, adopted her first rescue
companion, Roxy, on February 2, 2022. She had a vision to create a 5K race where runners and their
dogs could compete together, and the proceeds would benefit local rescues in the mid-south area. Her
vision became reality, and the first successful race was held on November 12, 2022.
Champion Paws 5K has previously benefited The Champion Farm, Opal’s Barn, and now Team Memphis
Rescue & Support (TMRS). We are looking forward to this year’s race, once again, benefitting TMRS!
Our Beneficiary! TMRS was chosen as the official beneficiary of The Champion Paws 5K. TMRS’s
Mission: “Team Memphis Rescue & Support is a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on
rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing discarded, mistreated and lost dogs of all breeds throughout the
Mid-South. Our committed all-volunteer team believes that every dog deserves the chance to live a
healthy and happy life. We strive to cultivate a supportive community where dogs receive the love and
care they need. By addressing the holistic well-being of each dog, we empower animal advocates and
collaborate with individuals and organizations that align with our mission. With the generous support of
volunteers, caregivers, trainers, veterinarians and donors, we provide vital resources to enhance the
physical and emotional health of every dog, preparing them for their forever homes.” To learn more visit
