FAQ

Q: Is anything included in the registration fee?
A: Each registration fee includes a donation to each of the four beneficiary nonprofit organizations and a custom, short-sleeved 2024 race t-shirt.

Q: What is the course? 
A: The event will begin at 7:45 a.m. on McCormick Road on UVA's Central Grounds at Engineers Way.


Q: I’ve just realized that I can’t come to the race. Can I get a refund or transfer my registration?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds on registration fees or transfer registrations. However, you can still pick up your t-shirt and your donation will support the four nonprofit organizations.

Q: Is there a discount for youth/students? 
A:
Yes; from now-10/17, the price for anyone 25 and under is $20. The price will go up to $25 on 10/18.

Q: I'm not sure I can afford the registration fee, are scholarships available? 
A:
Registration scholarships are available. If you wish to participate but cannot afford the registration fee, please contact uvaome@virginia.edu for more information.

Q: Where does the race begin?
A:
The race will start at 7:45 a.m. on McCormick Road on UVA's Central Gounds at Engineers Way.


Q: How long will it last?
A: The race will begin at 7:45 a.m. and conclude with an awards ceremony at 8:45 a.m.

Q: Is this race chip timed?
A: 
Yes, all participants will have a bib with chip timing.

Q: What types of teams exist for UVA faculty, staff, and students?
A:
 UVA faculty, staff, and students can choose from a list of Faculty/Staff, Club Sports, Greek Organizations/Councils, and First-Year Dorms teams. All students who register will also be automatically entered into their School team.

Q: Who can create a team?
A:
 We encourage local schools, churches, and businesses to create Community Teams!  During registration you'll be asked if you'd like to join a team. Check yes. Then you'll see options to join an existing team or "Create a New Group/Team." Enter the new team name and click Continue.

Q: How do I form/join a team after registration?
A: Sign In to RunSignUp
Go to your Profile
See Upcoming Races, choose The Community Bridges 5K
Click Manage Registration next to the registration that you are editing. Then click on TEAM in the top navigation bar. You can join an existing Group/Team or create a NEW Group/Team.

Q: I chose the wrong t-shirt size during registration. How can I change my size?
A:
 Sign in to RunSignUp
Go to your Profile
See Upcoming Races, choose The Community Bridges 5K
Click Manage Registration next to the registration that you are editing. Then click on GIVEAWAY in the top navigation bar.

Q: When can I pick up my bib and shirt?  
A:  Details regarding packet pickup will be emailed to participants the week of the race.

Q: Are strollers or baby carriers allowed on the race course?

A: No, because of safety issues due to the high volume of participants, strollers of any kind (including jogging strollers) and baby carriers are not allowed on the race course. 

Q: Can I run with my dog?
A: Dogs are great training partners, but Rover has to sit this one out. It’s a humans-only event. We don’t want to risk runners or dogs getting spooked, tangled in leashes or worse yet, injured. 

Q. Will there be awards?

A.  Yes, the top overall male and female plus the top two in five year age groups will recieve awards. 

Q. What time is the awards ceremony?

A. Between 8:45 and 9:00
