Both the start and finish lines are located next to the Kiwanis Pavilion. The Kiwanis Pavilion is behind the rec center and located next to Liberty Playground. For more information, see the event map.
Paket pickup is available at the Kiwanis Pavilion on Friday, Aug. 21 from 4-7 p.m. and beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 (race day).
Race day registration is not available for this event.
Free parking is avilable by Liberty Playground, Freedom Playground, Independence City Hall, by the pool, surrounding Elmwood pond and park, or at the Independence middle and high schools. View event map with parking identified.
Accessible parking is availabe with permit next to Safety Town.
We ask that participants DO NOT park behind the Civic Center.
Restrooms are available at the Kiwanis Pavilion and in the Independence Civic Center.
An adult changing table is also available inside the Civic Center. To access the changing table, enter the Civic Center through the main doors and turn right into the rec center area. Staff at the information desk will assist with access.
Embrace the Pace concludes at 11 a.m. Runners who have not crossed the finish line by that time will not be counted.
Participants in the Kids' Race may choose between a 100-meter dash or a 50-foot route. Families are encouraged to choose the best length based on their child's needs. For more information, see the Kids' Race route.
Both the Kids' Race and One-Mile Walk/Run/Roll are fully paved. The 5K includes a short stretch of grass as it loops behind Independence High School.

All Kids' Race participants will receive a medal and non-chip bib.
Families may add on a t-shirt for $10 more using a Kids' Race (with shirt) registration.
There is no maximum age limit for the Kids' Race. Event staff will divide runners into heats based on age and ability.
