Crusher 2020 Deferral & Lottery FAQs
With 2020 in the rearview and a new year upon us, we here at Crusher are working to ensure that a 2021
in-person event can happen, because I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to never have to qualify a phrase with “in-person” again.
Ya feel me?  That said, it’s going to be necessary to implement some adjustments to the way we’ve done things in the past to  ensure a safe event for everyone and we want to give you a heads-up on what you might expect.
Now, I’m not going to get too “deep in the weeds” here since there’s so much that can and likely will change
between now and race weekend, but here’s a general idea of what you might expect.

Packet Pickup

  •  Outdoor/Open-air venue

  •  Compliance with the latest CDC recommendations with regards to face coverings, distancing, screening etc.

Start Line/Staging

  •       Face coverings are likely to be required in the start line area for athletes, volunteers and staff including rider staging on the start line.

  •       We will stick with our tradition of category wave starts (ie., not a mass start)

  •       The event will start an hour earlier (7 AM) than we have in the past (more on this further down)

On-Course

  •    In combination with our traditional wave-start format and the challenging nature of the course, we expect a very spread out field and don’t anticipate        crowding to be a health concern out on the road.

  •    Our Aid stations will likely look and function differently than in previous years.

  •    In order to limit “touch-points” our volunteers will no longer be doing “hand-ups” of water bottles or other products, nor will new water bottles be                available at the aid stations, so make sure NOT to toss the water bottles you start with, you’ll need them!

  •    There will be fresh water available for you to fill your bottles with along with the usual “food-stuffs” and self-serve packets of First Endurance EFS            hydration mix and gels.

  •    Water will be self-serve from spigots to safely accommodate multiple users at one time at a safe distance.

  •    If you don’t want to be bothered with stopping and refilling your bottles, you might consider carrying a large-volume hydration pack in addition to the        bottles on your bike. (Yeah, I know, I know…. the time vs. weight conundrum… yet another piece to the CRUSHER puzzle!)

  •    Volunteers will implement the most up-to-date COVID safety protocols (masks, gloves, sanitizing agents, etc.)

What is your Deferral/Refund/Transfer policy?

One thing we have all learned from 2020 - it’s going to take all of us adjusting to be able to come together in the community spirit of the Tushar. We want you to be aware of our fee and refund structure now, in the event you need to change your plans or in the event of a catastrophic event causing a 2021 cancelation. We hope all of this helps guide you in your deferral decision.
