CureFest for Childhood Cancer

CureFest for Childhood Cancer will be held in Washington, DC on September 16-17, 2017.

Online registration is closing on September 14 at 12:00 pm. If you do not register online before the deadline, you are still welcome to attend all of the CureFest events! If you would like to participate in the Walk on Sunday during the Festival, please visit us on Saturday or Sunday at Packet Pick Up to get a walk bib. 

CureFest begins on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with a Rally to the U.S. Capitol. Families will be meeting on Freedom Plaza to make signs and then walk to the U.S. Capitol and back. Freedom Plaza is located at the corner of 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

The Meet & Greet on Freedom Plaza is from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. This family friendly event includes Packet Pick Up for the CureFest Walk, and some activities for children. Immediately following the Meet & Greet is a "A Night of Golden Lights." From 7:00 - 8:45 p.m. there will be live music and a speaking presentation at Freedom Plaza. At 8:45 p.m. attendees will walk as a group to The White House for a candlelight vigil.

On Sunday, CureFest includes both a festival and an organized Walk in which the childhood cancer community and the general public can stand together as one voice against childhood cancer. The festival begins at 10:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 12:00 p.m. (noon). There will be live music and performances from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

LOCATION CHANGE INFORMATION : The festival and walk will be held in a new location this year. We have moved slightly west on the National Mall. Please check out our event page for information on our 2017 location.  

Over 100 childhood cancer foundations and groups will be in attendance, along with a lineup of speakers and childhood cancer advocates. The walk, which is approximately 1.8 miles, takes place on the National Mall and offers spectacular views of the city from the U.S. Capitol, the Washington Monument, the White House and the World War II Memorial. Water and light snacks will be provided at the finish line. Registration is free!

Please note: The CureFest t-shirt deadline was 8/27/17. Shirts will be available to purchase after CureFest but the pre-CureFest deadline has passed.

Here are some important details:

Registration
Registration is required for the walk due to safety issues. Registration is free for all walk participants. There is no cost to attend the festival. If you miss online registration, you can come to Packet Pick Up on Saturday, September 16 or Sunday, September 17 to get a walk bib.  

Walk Packet Pick-Up
Every walk participant is required to wear a bib during the walk. This is required for safety reasons. Bibs and walk packets will be available for pick-up during the following times:

Saturday, September 16, 2017:
3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.: Packet Pick-Up on Freedom Plaza, 1455 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20004
Sunday, September 17, 2017:
8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.: Packet Pick-Up at CureFest on the National Mall

You may have your packet picked up by another individual, regardless of whether they are registered for the event. Proper ID will be required.

If you are picking up for a group larger than 10, we ask that you contact us in advance to make packet pick up as easy as possible. This option is only available for pre-race packet pick up and not available on Sunday. Proper ID will be required.
