Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC is delighted to support DC S.T.O.R.M. (Students Taught Organization and Respect through Mentoring), with our Eighth Annual FANtastic 5K Fun Run and Silent Auction on Saturday, September 29, 2018. With a race start at 9am at the hotel, the course takes runners and walkers through the amazing setting of the National Mall, concluding with a post-race breakfast and Silent Auction.
With the community’s generous support the last seven years, we have successfully raised over $242,000 for education and development efforts here in Southwest Washington, D.C.
We are delighted to once again provide much needed support to our local area youth. Last year’s efforts produced $27,000 in funds that went towards educational software for Jefferson Middle School Academy. This year’s beneficiary is DC S.T.O.R.M., a local non-profit organization that provides mentoring to inner-city middle school preteens. To learn more, their website is dcstorm.org and their federal ID number is 81-1491976.
Who are WE?
D.C. Storm, Inc. provides positive role models to expand the horizons for intercity middle school preteens and teens. The goals of the program are to teach about the values of good citizenship, ethics and literacy through mentoring the program participants.

DC STORM members are involved in community services activities such as cleaning the Anacostia River, working with homeless shelters in the area and providing activities for children with disabilities. We are also involved in a variety of activities designed to promote a positive work ethic that includes a mandatory afterschool homework club and fund raising activities to provide resources to underwrite field trips and sports equipment.
