Free training run & seminar
Come out on July 11, 2026 for free training run. After the run, we'll go to post-run coffee to answer your training questions -- whether they're about our programs or just your own training. Visit our training website for more information.
No registration required, just show up. Here are the details:
Pacers: we will have pacers running around a 7:30 pace through a 12:30 run-walk pace.
Distances: 4, 7, and 12 miles.
Where? North Meade Street Park (across from the Iwo Jima)
Time? 7 a.m. We will have some some discussion prior to starting the run.
Post-run coffee: We'll meet at For Five Coffee in Rosslyn. For the shorter distances, we will have a seminar. For the 12-mile distance, since we know people will finish at all different times, we will have a drop-in coaching session. Come and ask your questions about our training programs, your own training, or just hang out to see what we're all about.
Motivation: We will give away some free entries to the National Capital 20 Miler and Janet Braunstein 5 Miler after the run.
Registration is free!
Run Better, Run Smarter Workshop
The Run Better, Run Smarter Workshop is a comprehensive hands‑on (feet-on?) training experience designed for runners of all levels—from first‑timers to seasoned athletes preparing for fall races like the Army Ten-Miler, Marine Corps Marathon, and National Capital 20 Miler.
All attendees will receive $35 off registration for the Army Ten Miler. (You must register at the workshop to receive the discount.) We'll also have a giveaway for free entries for the Army Ten Miler and the National Capital 20 Miler.
This workshop brings together industry experts, including:
- Certified running coaches offering guidance on pacing, training plans, speed work, and race strategy
- Personal trainers and HYROX specialists teaching strength, conditioning, and hybrid‑fitness essentials
- Physical therapists and chiropractors providing movement assessments, injury‑prevention insights, and mobility tips
- Sports nutrition professionals sharing fueling strategies for training, racing, and recovery
You’ll rotate through interactive stations where you can ask questions, get personalized feedback, and learn practical techniques you can apply to your training—whether your goal is to run your first 5 minutes without stopping, shave minutes off your PR, or build the hybrid engine needed for HYROX.
We’ll also keep you fueled with a light breakfast, and we'll have a door prize drawing at the end of the workshop.
If you’re looking to run stronger, train smarter, and feel more confident heading into fall racing season, this workshop is your starting line.
The workshop is free, but we encourage you to register ahead of time as we have limited spaces available.
