We count on the Muscle Movement Fdn. (MMF) Run for Strength 5k as our largest source of individual donations for MMF support each year, providing us with the accommodations necessary to combat the debilitating-effects of muscle damaging diseases (i.e., ALS, muscular dystrophy). Ultimately, if we cannot do our jobs, there are families who will not receive the accommodations that enhance their strength, autonomy, and quality of life.
With the global health crisis of the coronavirus, we are dedicated to following the recommendations made via the Delaware Division of Public Health and Governor John Carney's State of Emergency plan. Event organizers in the state of Delaware have been issued to cancel non-essential gatherings of 100 or more to prevent the potential spread of the coronavirus. As such, we have transitioned this event to a virtual 5k.
What does this mean?
Our Muscle Champions can be affected more than any of us. While many individuals who are living with neuromuscular diseases may be placed at an enhanced risk for contracting the illness, due to a suppressed immune system and/or respiratory challenges, we have transitioned our event to a virtual 5k to allow MMF to engage our community without placing anyone at risk. This allows our supporters to remain safe during this pandemic, complete their 3.14 miles without gathering in a large crowd, and continue to make an impact in the lives of families who are affected by neuromuscular diseases.
To ensure the Muscle Movement Fdn. is able to continue our work of supporting individuals who are living with neuromuscular diseases, please make a donation to the MMF as you would have to participate in the 5k. We also encourage you to move your healthy muscles in honor of our Muscle Champions - individuals who unwillingly lose their ability to walk, talk, swallow, and breathe. Submit your official times via email to email@example.com. Results will be posted to our event website.
We also encourage our supporters to post your 3.14 miles on social media and utilize our event hashtags - #MuscleMovementFoundation #RunforStrength5k. Click here to post a photo of your time in our event Facebook page. Pictures/videos that are submitted will also be posted to our social media platforms and event website!
We are counting on your generosity to fuel our fight forward. That is, to create a state free from the debilitating effects of muscle damaging diseases.
We truly cannot do this without you!
