Description
We are two Delaware Occupational and Speech Therapists who are planning the 2nd Annual Stroke Awareness 5k Run/Walk event.
We have identified a need for support and awareness in our community for stroke survivors and their caregivers.
Our hope is to connect this wonderful community with local businesses and resources to shed a light on this important cause.
Proceeds from this race will go towards supporting individuals who have sustained a stroke and covering extraneous expenses.
Some of these costs can include but are not limited to: adaptive equipment to improve safety and quality of life, mobility related DME, transportation to and from appointments, speech generating devices, and thickener secondary to dysphagia.
Patient Testimony
Meet the inspiration behind this race. We are proud to introduce Everett Lacy. Everett survived two strokes over the last year and is currently receiving Occupational and Speech therapy services to address his impairments. His determination and drive serves as a beacon of hope. Everett's goal is to create an annual event that promotes stroke awareness and support through the local community and provides hope throughout their journey. Shine A Light On Stroke acts as both a literal and figurative means to draw attention to the recovery process, bring patients together, and build long lasting connections.
