Join Indoor Track Delaware & the Seashore Striders for the Inaugural 5K Run/Walk as we hit the pavement, the trails, the dirt, and the grass to help raise funds for a feasibility study evaluating the market for an indoor track/sports complex.

Indoor Track Delaware (ITD) is a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness for the need of an indoor track/sports complex in the Diamond State.

In 2013, Delaware lost its only 200 meter indoor track when the University of Delaware turfed over its indoor track for a football practice facility. Since then, our DIAA State Indoor Track & Field Championships are held out of state, two hours away, in PG County, Maryland. Every 200 meter track meet is an away meet. We want to change that and have a strategy to build a facility that will.

Comprised of coaches, parents and concerned citizens, ITD believes such a venue will address the unmet demand of indoor track athletes from Delaware high schools and local college teams; attract Mid-Atlantic region sports tourism dollars from December - March; provide tournaments and camps facility use for wrestling, volleyball, cheer and basketball throughout the calendar year; and improve community health and well being for Delawareans of all ages.

Again, Indoor Track Delaware’s Virtual 5K Run/Walk will help raise funds for our feasibility study. The goal of the study will be to determine the market demand, financial feasibility, and economic opportunity for a state-of-the-art indoor track/sports complex in Delaware.

    • The Seashore Striders will do one mailing for this event with your swag- a custom printed sling duffel bag to carry your running shoes or track spikes in...Bibs will be printed online so no need to mail you a bib
      • If you are local in the southern part of the State in the Lewes/Rehoboth area, we will have a drive-by packet pickup at the Cape Henlopen High School Track & Field Stadium (Legends Stadium) on Thursday, September 24th from 5-7 pm
      • If you are in the northern part of the State in the Newark/Wilmington area, you may pick up your bag at the Delaware Running Co. located at 4021 C Kennett Pike, Wilmington DE 19807 beginning on Saturday, September 26th.

RACE COURSE:  You may complete the Indoor Track DE 5k anywhere you wish beginning at 12:01 am on Thursday, August 20th and finishing 1 month later on Sunday, August 20st at midnight.  The race will start and finish anywhere you wish and you will verify your time by sending an email to Race Director Tim at   The email should have an attached selfie of yourself as well as a closeup photo of your distance and time from your tracking device.   Please be aware that there is not an official course that will be set-up by the Seashore Striders nor will there be any assistance on the course as far as water stops, directional signs, mile markers, race clocks, or emergency assistance.  


SAFE RUNNING & RACING:   The Seashore Striders encourage you to run & race safely during the Indoor Track DE 5k and discourage the gathering of runners for this event.   Please stay more than 6' from each other if running with someone.


RACE TIMING:  You will use a timing device on your watch (garmin )or iPhone (race tracker) or whatever you are comfortable with and to be verified it must be the complete 5k distance.    I will verify 3.11 miles, however I will NOT verify 2.97 miles.   At the completion of your Virtual Run, please take a selfie of your self with a close-up of your device showing your distance & time.   Results will be sent to for official verification and I then will upload the results to Runsignup/athlinks/CT.   "Moving Time" will not count- Please send "Elapsed Time".  Results are due to Race Director Tim by 12 midnight on Sunday, September 20th.   YOU MAY COMPLETE THIS EVENT INSIDE ON A TREADMILL OR OUTSIDE.    


RACE AMENITIES:  Virtual Finish line produced by “Seashore Strider Event Production, Inc.,” Virtual Post-Race awards ceremony at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22nd  & A RUNNING GOOD TIME.


AWARDS:  Awards will be presented to the Overall Male & Female Champions, Overall Male & Female Masters (40+ yrs.), as well as the top three (3) Male & Female finishers in the following 12 age categories: 6 & under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over.   There will be a Virtual Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, September 22nd @ 7 p.m. on Zoom.   All Participants will receive a link to the Awards Ceremony by 3 pm on the 22nd.   The Seashore Striders will make arrangements with you for an award pickup if you place in the top three in the award divisions. 


REFUNDS/DEFERRAL: The Seashore Striders have a "No Refund" policy, however we make every possible attempt to please our client with the following options:  1. Transfer to a future Seashore Strider owned event of equal value before the end of the current year.   2. Donate your entry fee to the charity associated with the event or to the Seashore Strider Youth Running program.  3. Transfer/Defer to the following year at the same event.  Thank You for your cooperation & understanding as some situations are beyond the control of the Seashore Striders.
