Mimosas for Marrow 5K
A Race to Cure, A Toast to Hope
Join us for the 3rd annual Mimosas for Marrow 5K run/walk, a heartfelt event to support families affected by blood cancers and disorders, and honor the resilience of those seeking a lifesaving bone marrow transplant.
Inspired by Oakley's Journey
Local moms, Sam and Brittany, driven by love and gratitude, founded this event after Sam's daughter, Oakley, received a lifesaving bone marrow transplant in 2022. Oakley's story fuels our mission to raise awareness and funds for NMDP (formally known as Be The Match) - the world’s largest and most diverse marrow donor registry.
The Urgency
Every 3-4 minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer or disorder. Time is crucial. A matching donor can be the only cure.
Your Impact
Last year, 626 participants united in support, raising over $26,000 - with a two year combined donation of nearly $45,000! This year, we aim higher. Your registration and donations will bring hope to those seeking a bone marrow transplant.

Oakley’s Story
Oakley, a previously healthy 2 year old, was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening blood disorder called Severe Aplastic Anemia, resulting in bone marrow failure. Oakley had been fighting for her life while receiving roughly 70 blood/platelet transfusions, and immunotherapy that failed to show positive results. Her only chance at survival was a bone marrow transplant.
With relief, Oakley’s team found a close matched donor who was registered on NMDP. This person selflessly signed up, donated her stem cells, and saved Oakley’s life.
After a vigorous hospital stay receiving her life-saving transplant, Oakley’s family were given the news that it was successful.
Oakley’s experience was anything but ordinary - spending 4 months total inpatient. She’s endured liver toxicity, invasive infections, surgeries, flare-ups of GVHD, and more. Though this journey presented many challenges, Oakley’s strength showed she is a true superhero. Despite her rollercoaster recovery, she is finally able to start living life as a kid again.
