Race Participant Guide
Thank you! We really appreciate your support! We feel very grateful as a team to be able to help bring back a cherished Duck event with so much support from participants like you!
The Cause & Why it Matters: The First Flight Track Club is an all-volunteer 501C3 nonprofit dedicated to helping local student athletes and growing the running community by funding athletes in need, providing scholarships, supporting youth running teams and helping the schools maintain and improve track and field facilities. We are building lifelong habits for healthy living through running. We are engaging students in a positive community of peers and coaches that exercise together outside every day.
What to Wear—Dress for the weather. Layers! Costumes are welcome! See the website for details on the Costume Contest! There will be prizes…and selfie stations!
What to Bring—Water Bottle or reusable cup, (There will be disposable cups at the aid station, but help us reduce trash and single use consumption!), a watch to record your time (if you want your results), and a thankful vibe!
Park— Nearby, but NOT at Scarborough Faire, and walk over to the start/finish line at 102 Christopher Lane. Christopher Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic on Race Morning.
Schedule— The race starts at 9:00 am sharp. We will start handing out top finisher awards and random prizes to racers at 10:00 am. The race course will be closed by 10:30 am. The party will go through 11:00 am.
Communication on Race Day—For serious emergencies, dial 911 and yell for help. Police will be onsite. Volunteers will have fluorescent vests.
Race Day Provisions— In your check in package you will receive a ticket for 1 beer or 1 lemonade on tap. We will provide bananas, water, coffee and hot chocolate at the finish. Bring money if you want to purchase other items from vendors.
Restrooms— We will have port-o-johns at the start/finish.
The Race— The start line will stretch across Christopher Drive with racers heading east, toward the ocean. Fast runners should be at the front. Walkers should be near the back. You will pass the 1 mile mark just before heading north on route 12. At Christopher, northbound runners will be in the northbound vehicle lane. It is ESSENTIAL to stay on the road going north and not the sidewalk/bike path as Returning Racers will be running fast headed back to the finish. In Schooner Ridge, follow the cones and stay left.
This is not a chip-timed race. There will be a race clock at the finish.
Photos— Jason Denson Photography is providing professional photography before, during, and after the race. Within a week post-race, we will email a link for FREE download of edited images. If you see Jason taking pics, SMILE :)! Please use our selfie stations and don’t forget to tag #duckturkeytrot on your social media posts!
Prizes— Will be awarded for first place male and first place female. Other fun prizes will be awarded based on random drawings (check your bib number when announcements are made) and costume contest results!
Be sure to have this email with you (on your phone, no need to print out!) and be ready to scan your QR code below for quick and easy check-in.
