In 2023, through your donations, many giving their shirt value to the Food Bank, and the Skinny Raven match, we are able to give over $14,000 to the Food Bank of Alaska. We collected almost 800 pounds of food this year as donations to the food bank! We are so close to that 1000 pound mark lets surpass that goal this year!
The Food Bank of Alaska is hosting their Thanksgiving Blessing holiday food distribution event coming on Nov. 18th (Mat-Su) and Nov. 20th (Anchorage). Due to the significant increase in food insecurity this year, they anticipate serving a similar number of families that were served in 2021- 11,000, and possibly more. This will be an increase of 2,500 families compared to 2022. Additionally, the costs for the event have increased a staggering 35%. In total, this two-day food distribution event will cost almost half a million dollars this year. Ultimately donations have dropped and the food need is up, so we, along with our partner organizations, are struggling to meet the need.
