Safe Haven Counseling was founded with the belief that every person deserves access to quality
mental health care, regardless of income. Alabama is ranked as the 6 th poorest state in the
country, and data concerning the link between poverty and mental illness is staggering. Safe
Haven strives to reach those who otherwise would not have access to adequate mental health
care due to lack of insurance, financial support, or resources in community mental health centers.
Safe Haven is unique in that we have very little overhead. Almost all funds go to direct client
services, reaching new clients, or training upcoming counselors. In 2019, we hope to provide at
least 30 clients with support for 6 sessions with a highly trained counselor in our area. To help us
achieve this goal, we hope to raise $3,000 with this event. Safe Haven exists due to the generous support of our local community, and we believe that this support will allow us to one day provide services to
every indigent resident in Alabama in need.
