The Rescue Run 5k

Description

Calling all local superheroes to participate in The Rescue Run 5k Run and Walk! This is an initiative by the White County Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council to raise awareness about depression, bullying, and suicide prevention among youth in our community. Dress up in your super-gear and run or walk to raise money for local victims of these pressing issues! All proceeds will benefit youth in White County as granted out by the Youth Advisory Council.

Packet pick-up will be on Friday at Beyond Boundaries in Searcy from 9AM-9PM.

 

 

Place

The Rescue Run will begin at First Security Stadium on the campus of Harding University. Runners will start first and walkers will immediately follow.The race route will begin on the bike trail circling Harding's campus. It will continue on Park Street and runners will turn right onto South Remington Street running next to Starbucks. Runners will hang another right onto Center Street heading back towards Harding's campus. The road naturally runs onto Grande Street where runners will turn onto Market Street running on the perimeter of campus past the Heritage Building. Runners will turn right onto Cross Street where they will quickly merge onto Harding Drive for the final steps of the race. As runners exit the Harding Drive Loop, they will head back onto Cross Street running back towards First Security Stadium where the finish line will be. The race route will be identified with both signs and volunteers.

Be a SUPER HERO!

Participants are encouraged to dress as superheroes to take a stand against the pressing issues of bullying, depression, and suicide among youth. A prize will be given to the participant with the best costume.

Youth Advisory Council

The Youth Advisory Council of White County is a sub group of the White County Community Foundation made up of high school students from both Searcy High School and Harding Academy. The members of the Youth Advisory Council spend the entire school year planning fundraisers and learning about local nonprofits who the funds can eventually be granted to. YAC members have dedicated this year to promote the prevention of suicide, depression, and bullying. The Rescue Run will serve as YAC's main fundraiser for 2018.
