Our cause
 
A percentage of the Plymouth Rock 'n' Run event proceeds is donated to Reeve-Irvine Research Center (RIRC) at the University of California, Irvine, via the UCI Foundation. RIRC is dedicated to basic scientific research to discover novel approaches to improve recovery of function after spinal cord injury (SCI). Additionally, RIRC seeks to engage investigators throughout California and the entire world in advancing scientific knowledge through sharing results, strategies, and communication. Plymouth Rock 'n' Run is proud to have been a supporter of RIRC and its important efforts since the race's inception in 2008. About the event 
 
Plymouth Rock 'n' Run had its humble beginnings in 2008 when a group of volunteer students and community members decided to host a 5K race on New Year's Day to support spinal-cord injury research at RIRC. Later that same year, the race was reimagined as a Thanksgiving Day event and became the Plymouth Plymouth Rock 'n' Run (PRNR) at Yorba Regional Park in Anaheim. The rest, as they say, is history. Both the event and its cause resonated with members of the local communities, and PRNR quickly grew into a beloved Thanksgiving Day tradition for many, attracting participants of all ages and abilities and gaining support from volunteer groups at local high schools and other organizations throughout the area.
 
In the 12 years since its inaugural running in 2008, PRNR grew from an initial field of 400 participants to over 2000. During that time, it donated over $1MIL to RIRC. 2019 was the final year of the race before the pandemic; now, in 2023, we pick up where we left off -- we are thrilled to welcome participants back this year to the Plymouth Rock 'n' Run, North Orange County's premier turkey trot, and look forward to seeing you on Thanksgiving Day!
