Place

5000 E Ocean Blvd
Long Beach, CA US 90803

Description

The National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims was designated by Congress to honor and remember homicide victims and the devastating impact their tragic deaths had on families, friends, and communities. Numerous groups and communities across the country gather together to pay tribute to victims whose lives were taken, support their surviving family members, share stories and memories and provide comfort to those who lost a loved one.

JHV and JFMC's inaugural NDOR CommUNITY 5K Walk/Run invites families, friends, neighbors, community members and all who want to support survivors of murdered loved ones. Come out and participate in a day promoting peace and unity. Special events following the 5K Walk/Run will honor homicide victims and will include food, music, vendors, a silent auction and more.

All those wanting to participate in the NDOR CommUNITY 5K Walk/Run, must register online as it directly benefits JHV and JFMC, in supporting survivors of murdered loved ones. Children ages 5 and under are FREE to participate and do not need to be registered online.

Thank you in advance for your support, contributions and continuous sharing of our event! We look forward to a wonderful event with all of you!

National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims - September 25

"So long as we live, they too shall live and love for they are a part of us as we remember them." - Gates of Prayer

In 2007, Congress designated Sept. 25 as the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims. Robert and Charlotte Hullinger, of Cincinnati, formed Parents of Murdered Children following the 1978 murder of their 19-year-old daughter, Lisa, while she was studying in Germany. The annual day of observance is on the date Lisa was murdered. The annual National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims gives us all the opportunity to remember those lost to homicide, and honor their memories.

The purpose of this event is to focus on the impact of murder on families, and communities, and ways to support and serve survivors.
