Mercy Medical Center was awarded a Certificate of Distinction for advanced certification as a Primary Stroke Center and was given the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission. This distinction is based on a review of compliance with national standards, clinical guidelines, and outcomes of care.
In its ninth year of existence, Mercy's 5K Stroke Awareness Run has been a vital source of fundraising for numerous services and equipment for our Stroke Program. Most notably, funds raised from previous races were used to purchase a second Remote Presence Medical Robot, better known as Dr. Bot. This 5-foot-tall robot is used to assess and diagnose patients suspected of suffering a stroke. It allows physicians to “beam” themselves into Mercy Medical Center's patient rooms 24-hours a day to diagnose patients and offer medical advice.
Mercy now has 2 (two) Dr. Bots on staff, which has been a vital addition to the medical center with the number of stroke activations on the rise as well as expansion into using the robots for mental health and psychiatric evaluations. We need your support to continue to provide critical equipment such as Dr. bot, and important programs and services for Mercy's Stroke Program!
