Established after Hurricane Ian in 2022, Hope DeSoto provides disaster preparedness, response, recovery, mitigation, and long-term resiliency assistance to families and communities regardless of background. Over the past three years, we have processed hundreds of assistance requests, partnered with organizations like FEMA, Habitat for Humanity, Mennonite Disaster Service, and the American Red Cross to rebuild and repair homes, install life-saving smoke detectors, distribute emergency “go bags,” and deliver rental assistance and debris cleanup. We administered a $95,000 participatory grant program to restore vital community resources and conducted Hurricane Ready trainings to empower families for future storms.
