Commissioning 5K to celebrate America’s newest Destroyer named after the first Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, Delbert D. Black.

This is a virtual race, run anytime between Sept 12th thru Sept 26 and show your support for the USS Delbert D. Black DDG119.

We will ship out virtual race bags that include a T-Shirt, Medal and photo of the ship as soon as we have everything together.  We expect to start shipping the week of Sept 12th.

This is an excellent way to commemorate this amazing ship and crew.

Update August 31st, 2020

We will make 2 Shirt Orders.  One will happen around Sept 12th, the next will happen right after the commissioning.  This will give everyone a chance to signup and get a T-shirt and Medal.

Update September 8th, 2020

We have made our first order of T-shirts.  If you haven’t signed up yet, we may or may not yet be able to fill your T-shirt size until we make the second order.  Please be patient, and we will get them ordered.  We will post photos of the T-shirts as soon as we have them in.

Who is putting on this race?

The USS Delbert D. Commissioning Committee, sponsored and led by the US Navy League, Cape Canaveral Council.

What is the purpose of this race?

To create cohesiveness throughout the Navy by enabling people to be part of the Commissioning of the ship that bears the namesake of the first Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy... And help raise money to support activities surrounding the Commissioning.

How will the donations be used?

Your donation will be used to support commission costs, including:

Virtual 5K event – All Crew members will get to participate as part of the event.
Meals, such as a BBQ.
Gifts for the crew, including ballcaps and plaques.
A Special gift for Ima Black, the ship sponsor.
Additional funds will help support the ships MWR after the commissioning.
And any additional costs related to the commission.
