Description

Run to the Rescue will be our third annual 5K/1 mile walk hosted by the Harrigan Foundation in beautiful Delray Beach! The Harrigan Foundation is a non-profit organization determined to sponsor First Responders (Firefighters, Police Officers, Military Officials, etc.) who suffer from addiction and/or trauma disorders. Since we are supporting our community heroes, our theme is Superheroes. Capes, costumes and other super hero gear is welcome!

This race will help fund our scholarship program to help sponsor our heroes in need. The 5K will be a timed through AccuChip. All walkers are welcome to bring pets and children.

The race will start at Anchor Park in Delray Beach. Start whistle will sound off at 7:15am

  • 14 and under

  • 15-19

  • 20-29

  • 30-39

  • 40-49

  • 50-59

  • 60-69

  • 70-79

  • 80+

 

We will have snacks and refreshments before and after for all participants as well as an awards ceremony. There will also be entertainment and raffle giveaways following the race.

Parking

The city starts closing the roads at 5:45 a.m. so that they can have them all closed by 6:00 a.m.

If you can try and carpool or use a car service of your choice. Payment for parking or any others means of transportation will be your responsibility.

Parking is available at Sandoway or Ingrahm lots on Gleason St. Here are the links for directions and information about the two lots:

Volunteers for the race will be provided with superhero capes. 

There will be a raffle of over $1000 worth of prizes for race participants, which will include: 1 Millennial football signed by Don Shula; 2 priceless autographed photos, 1 of Jared McCann from the Florida Panthers and 1 of Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins; a $733 coupon for dental work at Spodak Dental; mini iPad; Instax mini instant camera; a portable phone charger; a $50 gift certificate from Nobile Shoes; Beautique Beauty Lounge (3) $25 gift certificates; and several children's prizes. The raffle prizes will be chosen by random bib number and you must be present to receive your prize.

The February 3rd, 2018 Run to the Rescue 5K Run and 1 Mile walk hosted by The Harrigan Foundation is gearing up to be a great success even in its second year of operation. The event has already garnered 11 sponsors throughout the community. The charity run and walk is raising money to help first responders who suffer from addiction and/or trauma related issues. The event is sponsored by Palm Healthcare Company and Palm Partners. The race begins at 7:15 a.m. at 340 South Ocean Blvd. in Delray Beach, FL. The run is slated to be an annual event.

Participating businesses include: Palm Healthcare; RECO Intensive; Beach.com LLC; SC Advertising Solutions; Runner’s Edge; Royal Recovery; Orange Theory Fitness of Delray Beach; Printer’s Choice, LLC;  Dawn Wagner- State Farm Insurance Agent; Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.; Viking Holdings, LLC; Massage Heights; Basis Whole Body Wellness; Sneakz Organics; European Wax Center; Bogani & Robes, PLLC and Spodak Dental.

Some of these sponsors have made generous contributions in raising money for First Responders, while others have donated prizes for the various activities during the Run to the Rescue event.  There are a number and a variety of exciting and fun prizes donated by sponsors.

The festivities are kicking off Saturday morning at 7:15 a.m., and there will be live entertainment from 8- 10 a.m.

Participants are welcome and encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superhero in honor of the everyday heroes we are all gathering to celebrate. “Some of the event sponsors are already getting in on the fun by donning superhero costumes of their own, and Orange Theory of Delray Beach, who will be leading the morning warm-ups, have even ordered orange superhero T-shirts for their own employees!” said Doris Harrigan, the Director of the Harrigan Foundation.

“Volunteers of the race will be provided with a superhero cape of their own and a special light blue race t-shirt. Every participant will receive a color certificate, including volunteers, runners and walkers. Up to 200 participants will receive gift bags filled with materials such as:

•             Brochures and information from several of the sponsors

•             Water bottles

•             Stress balls

•             Goodie bags for the kids,” said Palm Healthcare Vice President of Training and Marketing Doug McGuirk.

Three medals for each age category will be awarded after the race, as well as medals for the overall winners.

Breakfast after the race will include: fresh fruit, power bars, granola bars and bottled water.

The course for the race begins on Gleason Street and loops around to A1A. Runners will turn around at George Bush Blvd. and return to Anchor Park in Delray Beach, FL.
