The February 3rd, 2018 Run to the Rescue 5K Run and 1 Mile walk hosted by The Harrigan Foundation is gearing up to be a great success even in its second year of operation. The event has already garnered 11 sponsors throughout the community. The charity run and walk is raising money to help first responders who suffer from addiction and/or trauma related issues. The event is sponsored by Palm Healthcare Company and Palm Partners. The race begins at 7:15 a.m. at 340 South Ocean Blvd. in Delray Beach, FL. The run is slated to be an annual event.

Participating businesses include: Palm Healthcare; RECO Intensive, LLC; Runner’s Edge; Orange Theory Fitness of Delray Beach; SC Advertising Solutions; Printer’s Choice, LLC; Beach.com; Dawn Wagner- State Farm Insurance Agent; Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.; Viking Holdings, LLC; and The Ettenberg Foundation.

Some of these sponsors have made generous contributions in raising money for First Responders, while others have donated prizes for the various activities during the Run to the Rescue event.  There are a number and a variety of exciting and fun prizes donated by sponsors.

The festivities are kicking off Saturday morning at 7:15 a.m., and there will be live entertainment from 8- 10 a.m. The Harrigan Foundation is grateful to announce Sabrina Renee as live entertainment for the second annual Run to the Rescue 5K Run/1 Mile Walk. Sabrina Renee is a terrific local talent and a classically trained musician who will be performing an acoustic set of fan favorite cover songs.

Participants are welcome and encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superhero in honor of the everyday heroes we are all gathering to celebrate. “Some of the event sponsors are already getting in on the fun by donning superhero costumes of their own, and Orange Theory of Delray Beach, who will be leading the morning warm-ups, have even ordered orange superhero T-shirts for their own employees!” said Doris Harrigan, the Director of the Harrigan Foundation.

“Volunteers of the race will be provided with a superhero cape of their own and a special light blue race t-shirt. Every participant will receive a color certificate, including volunteers, runners and walkers. Up to 200 participants will receive gift bags filled with materials such as:

•             Brochures and information from several of the sponsors

•             Water bottles

•             Stress balls

•             Goodie bags for the kids,” said Palm Healthcare Vice President of Training and Marketing Doug McGuirk.

Three medals for each age category will be awarded after the race as well as medals for the overall winners.

Breakfast after the race will include: fresh fruit, power bars, granola bars and bottled water.

Each participant will receive a raffle ticket in their bag, so don't forget to bring your raffle ticket with you on the day of the race. Additional raffle tickets will be on sale at the event, so bring extra money if you care to purchase more tickets.

Special pricing has been added to the Runsignup web site at http://runsignup.com/Race/FL/DelrayBeach/HFRuntotheRescue5K  for high school students between the ages of 14-18. They can now register for the race at the special rate of $20 per person.

The course for the race begins on Gleason Street and loops around to A1A. Runners will turn around at George Bush Blvd. and return to Anchor Park in Delray Beach, FL.

“The Harrigan Foundation would again like to take the time to celebrate all the amazing efforts that have been put into making the third Run to the Rescue such an astonishing success so far. Our incredible sponsors have done so much to help us bring this cause to life and we are extremely grateful for everyone who has pushed to help us spread the word and make such an amazing event possible, “Doris Harrigan said.
