5K Walk/Run For Water

For millions of us, to get a drink of water there isn't much we need to do but for people in Haiti they must walk for hours to get to clean water. On April 7, 2018, we ask that you join the Jolly Scholastic Foundation as we drive awareness to water crisis in Haiti, while raising funds to build a borehole water well in L'acul nu Nord, Haiti. 

 
Bring your family and friends and experience the journey that millions of women and children in Haiti make every day to provide water for their families. If you choose, you can even carry a gallon of water on the route.

WHY YOU SHOULD WALK?

• Waterborne diseases claim more than half of the deaths each year, including the lives of more than 66,000 children in Haiti

• Women and children bare the primary responsibility of finding and transporting water each day

• The average distance a person walks to find clean water is 6 hours

• 1 in 5 children are chronically malnourished in Haiti as a result of not having clean water

OUR GOAL IS TO:

Build a borehole water well that will improve the quality of life for hundreds of families in L'acul du Nord, Haiti. Using a community driven approach, we aim to work in cohesion with the locals, to educate them on sanitation and maintenance. 

BENEFICIARY: All proceeds raised through the Jolly Scholastic Run/Walk for Water event will benefit the rural communities of Haiti, beginning with L'acul Du Nord

When registering, just choose the “start a team/group” option. All team members have to register individually, so just tell your friends your team name and they can choose it from the drop-down when they register. The Team with the most funds raised will get to name the Water Well and earn a VIP tailgate package. There are many people who would love to participate but unable to for one reason or another, if you'd still like to support our cause, We ask that you consider a Virtual Walk.

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACE? A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.
