The KeepSafe 5K

This event is designed to be both a 5k race and a 1 mile fun run/walk in an effort to raise money to purchase car seats for mothers in need.

Details:

Mothers in our own community have been identified as needing assistance in both training on the proper use of child safety seats as well as needing assistance in purchasing proper safety seats for their children. With the help of a host of local businesses, the Brittany Kerfoot Memorial Project Inc. has planned a 5k race; from which, proceeds will be used to purchase child safety seats for mothers that do not have the means to otherwise own!

The Goal: Purchase/receive through donation 50+ NEW car seats to give to mothers with children of various ages.

Why: In our community we have many young mothers that have never had the opportunity to learn how to properly fit their infant or child properly into a child safety seat. More than this, due to the cost of such seats, many mothers go without and don’t understand the importance of having a child properly restrained in a safety seat.

Who: Local Businesses and individuals are encouraged to participate in the raising of funds to provide for such a great need in our community—this can be achieved while having a great time participating in the KeepSafe 5k.

Downtown Albany – Route (see Attached)

When: The race itself will take place on September 1st 2018 at 0900 AM (EST).

At a different location on the 15th (Albany Civic Center), the identified mothers will participate in a class on how to properly install and care for a child safety seat. At the conclusion of the class (taught and sponsored by Certified Child Safety Seat Certified Technicians) these mothers will be given their own NEW CHILD SAFETY SEAT!!
