The Gwinnett Parks Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to assist the needs of Gwinnett Parks & Recreation. Organized in 2001, the Gwinnett Parks Foundation improves that quality of life for all Gwinnett residents by working in cooperation with Gwinnett Parks & Recreation, community partners, private businesses, foundations, and Gwinnett County Government.
According to EndDrowningNow.org, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death ages 1-14 and that African American & Hispanic nationality account for more than 3 times as many drowning incidents. Taking part in formal swimming lessons and water safety classes can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88%!
Help support the foundation’s Health & Wellness Scholarship Fund which assists in providing free swimming lessons to at-risk Summer Camp participants. Since 2014, more than 1,930 campers have learned basic water safety skills in addition to taking educational information home for their families to learn how to be safe in and around bodies of water.
