Thank you so much for considering a donation to our upcoming 5K to Prevent ICU Burnout! So, what exactly is burnout, you might ask? Burnout is defined as "an experience of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion, caused by long-term involvement in situations that are emotionally demanding". Medicine is truly a calling, with all of us getting into healthcare with the want and desire to help those in need. However, with the definition of burnout in mind, most ICU professionals are put into frequent situations which are emotionally, mentally, and physically demanding. This can lead to burnout among those of us who work in the intensive care unit.
The goal of this 5K is to celebrate all the disciplines that make up the ICU team, letting them know how appreciated they are and the impact they have had on patients’ lives over the past year.
All donations will be used to fund wellness initiatives across the Emory Critical Care Center!
