Sandpoint Rotary presents the 15th Annual CHAFE 150 Gran Fondo, named one of the top charity rides in the US! The ride takes place in Sandpoint, Idaho, the "Most Beautiful Small Town in the USA." The 150 mile route is a grand loop around the Cabinet Mountains-a frontal range of the Rocky Mountains of Idaho and Montana-through gorgeous lake and river valleys, encompassing one upriver leg, two downriver legs and one huge lake! In addition, CHAFE also offers magnificent 100, 40, 25 mile and Gravel routes for riders of any level!
The CHAFE 150 ride continues its legacy of support for education in the greater Sandpoint community. For the past ten years, CHAFE has helped support autism programs and after school reading and literacy initiatives by contributing almost $500,000 to the Lake Pend Oreille School District. For 2022-2024, CHAFE donations will benefit the Lake Pend Oreille School District's "Book Trust" program for all first and second grade students in it's seven elementary schools. Like in past years, a portion of the CHAFE proceeds will also support other Rotary Club of Sandpoint Youth Services programs.
This year, students have already gained 14 percentage points in reading proficiency from fall to winter. CHAFE is helping our students close the reading gap!
CHAFE’s support will assist the community by helping to increase student achievement in literacy, foster students’ love of reading, increase staff training in teaching literacy, provide safe, supportive after-school programs for students, and increase community outreach and targeted literacy events. A portion of CHAFE proceeds also support Rotary community programs.
