The Indiana University Student Outreach Clinic (IUSOC) is a free clinic led by IU School of Medicine students that strives to close the health care gap and minimize social barriers to access to health care in the Near Eastside community. The IUSOC provides primary care-based medical, therapy, social and legal services for the uninsured and underserved in the Indianapolis community. Along with our 17 partners in various health care positions we coordinate a presence to address a wide variety of conditions including infections, musculoskeletal complaints, high blood pressure and depression.
The IU SOC opened its doors 15 years ago and has been seeing patients since. Throughout these years our clinic has grown and we have seen a steady increase in the number of patients we provide care for. With this increase, we have seen an increase in our lab and pharmacy spending due to the sheer magnitude of patients we follow. As a non-profit organization we depend on donations and fundraisers to continue providing care to our community. In order to help minimize the burden of those costs, we organize annual fundraising events such as Evening of the Arts, annual merchandise sales, and this year we are excited to announce a brand new 5k fundraiser in October! We are working tirelessly to make this new event a success and could use all the support we can get!
