We continue the Groundhog's long partnership raising Donations for our friends at the Zionsville Food Pantry in lieu of actual canned food items. They serve a wide range of folks in the Boone County area and this gives them more flexibility to serve the community. (Some folks still bring a few canned items, which is perfectly ok as well, but monetary donations allow maximum flexibility to meet the needs of the community.)
Indy Runners has been blessed to organize the Groundhog for 40+ years now as a FREE race promoting community engagement through food donations (and recently monetary donations to the food pantry).
For perspective, our goal of $4000 in donations this year would translate to 8-weeks of groceries for the 120+ families they serve. Or individually:
- $25- 16 cases of assorted cereals OR 10 cases each of flour tortillas and plant based protein breakfast links...
- $50 - 10 cases of canned food items (240 cans)...
- $150 - 120 dozen Fresh Eggs for protein...
