The Stop Trafficking Project® is the charity for Kickoff 5K. The Stop Trafficking Project® educates and empowers students and adults to be safer regarding the role of social media and the internet in daily life, which includes the reality of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST). From 2023-2024 sextortion increased 18,000% and 52% of teenagers in America consistently engage with an AI Companion. Sex trafficking increased 55% from 2023-2024. There’s good news though because The Stop Trafficking Project® BeAlert® Strategy has now effectively reached over 291,000 people. More than 140,000 of them are students. Surveys after presentations indicate that 50% of those students are engaged in online activities that make them highly vulnerable to being exploited. But after our assemblies, 91% of those students indicate they will take steps to make positive changes to keep themselves and their friends safer. The Stop Trafficking Project® BeAlert® Strategy is saving lives by identifying and ending vulnerabilities in students before they can be exploited. You can BeAlert® by being Active, Learning, Empowered, Relentless, Together. Learn more at www.stoptraffickingproject.com
