Payment: Donations can be made here online. If you prefer to pay by check, make it payable to Woburn High School (please put DECA 5K in the memo) and send it to 2 Coventry Lane, Woburn, MA 01801. We can also arrange to pick up checks. Additionally, we accept Venmo donations @WoburnDECA.
Tax Deductible: Donations should be tax-deductible (Tax ID: 04-6001417). Please consult your accountant for confirmation.
About DECA:
DECA is an international organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. At WMHS, DECA involves students competing against other schools where they are given specific business scenarios and must act as professionals in their field. These scenarios require them to interact with judges who play the roles of business executives, clients, or other stakeholders. These challenges simulate scenarios that professionals might face in the corporate world, requiring critical thinking, data analysis, and strategic decision-making. This hands-on experience helps students demonstrate their expertise, communication, and interpersonal skills.
DECA not only teaches leadership and business skills but also instills confidence and professionalism. Each competition enhances their learning, providing experiences they will remember forever. However, as opportunities grow, so do the associated costs. The WMHS DECA program costs over $50,000 to run, and these expenses are covered by the students unless we secure donations. The school does not provide financial assistance, so we rely on the support of our amazing community.
The funds raised from the road race and any donations will directly reduce these costs, making it possible for more students to participate and benefit from DECA's invaluable experiences.
