8th Annual Paddle Run/Walk 4 CureHHT @ Captain Jim’s

Donation Goal: $5,000

Lindsay Vos has dedicated her life to helping others heal.

As a recreational therapist, her work has always been about giving people their lives back. Helping them rebuild confidence. Find joy again. Keep going when things feel impossible.

That’s who she is.

Then everything changed.

After experiencing severe symptoms, Lindsay was diagnosed with a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a rare and life-threatening condition linked to Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). She underwent brain surgery to save her life.

During that surgery, Lindsay suffered a stroke.

In an instant, the person who had spent her life helping others recover was now facing her own long road back.

But if you know Lindsay, you know this.

She didn’t stop giving.

Since her diagnosis and recovery, she has continued to show up. To advocate. To raise awareness. To pour into others, even while fighting her own battle.

That is why this event matters.

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, our community will come together in Gibraltar for the
8th Annual Captain Jim’s 5K Paddle, Run & Walk benefiting Cure HHT.

This event honors Captain Jim Vos and now carries even deeper meaning through Lindsay’s story, a story of resilience, purpose, and what it means to keep showing up.

This is more than a race.

It’s a chance to stand behind someone who has always stood for others.
It’s a chance to bring awareness to a condition that often goes undetected until it’s too late.
It’s a chance to be part of something that truly changes lives.

And we are asking you to be part of it.

Cure HHT - The Cornerstone of the HHT Community - HHT is a hereditary bleeding disorder (meaning it is passed down through generations) that is characterized by abnormal blood vessel formation resulting in telangiectasia and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). A person with HHT has a tendency to form blood vessels that lack normal capillaries between an artery and vein. This means that in a person with HHT, arterial blood under high pressure flows directly into a low pressure vein without first having to squeeze through the many very small capillaries. This place where an artery is connected directly to a vein tends to be a fragile site that can rupture and bleed. Additionally, since the capillaries did not form correctly, they are not able to deliver oxygen to tissues as effectively.
