The Lansing Turkey Trot is the largest fundraiser for the Michigan Running Foundation, a 501c3 (non-profit).
100% of the proceeds form this race will go to support High School and Middle School Cross Country and Track programs, Youth Running Clubs, pay to play scholarships, and installing running/walking tracks across the state..
One of our main programs at the Michigan Running Foundation takes place right here in the city of Lansing. The Lansing School District did not have a Middle School Cross Country program. We brought it back! We donate over $10,000 a year to the Lansing School District so they can hire coaches, buy uniforms and go to Cross Country meets. Help us keep these programs going in Lansing and all over our great state of Michigan!
Another main program at the Michigan Running Foundation is a free mile race for kids called the Mighty Mile. The goal of the Mighty Mile is to encourage kids to start running and stay fit and active. All of the kids ages 5 to 14 that do the race receive a tech shirt, finisher medal, water bottle, back pack, custom bib number and a chipped timed accurate mile. We put on 6 free Mighty Mile races throughout Michigan in 2024 and over 1000 kids ran in the event.
In 2024 we installed 2 running paths, one at Gardner Elementary school in Lansing, and Vernor Elementary school in Detroit. In 2025 we plan to install more running paths at schools.
Your donation goes directly to these programs!
