Miles for Mills Michigan Going Virtual
Thank you to participants who have registered for the Miles for Mills Michigan. These past few weeks the Travis Mills Foundation has worked to evaluate every option possible for our Memorial Day 5k in light of COVID-19. We have been working diligently with our vendors, partners, and the city of Vassar to come up with the best course of action in response to recent events. The health and wellbeing of our participants, volunteers, local community, and staff always come first.
Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances and guidance from health officials in regard to COVID-19, we have made the decision to go virtual for this year’s Miles for Mills 5k in Michigan. We have explored the options for the race, which included postponing the event until August 9th, but ultimately made the decision we felt was best for everyone that is involved in this event and decided to go virtual.
As a registered runner, you have a few options:
- We are going virtual! Join us for our virtual run. If you have already registered then you are already signed up for our virtual run.
- You can choose to donate your registration fee to the Travis Mills Foundation through your RunSignUp account.
- If none of the options listed above works for you, you can receive a refund for your registration, minus processing fees, through your RunSignUp account.
The deadline to act on any of the options listed above is June 12, 2020. If you take no action before June 12th, your registration will automatically be deferred and will be non-refundable.
T-Shirt Cutoff Date- All participants will still receive their race t-shirt. Participants who sign up before June 15th will also receive a t-shirt. Due to COVID-19 t-shirt turnaround time has been delayed. We anticipate t-shirts arriving to you via your mailing address by early to mid-July! Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these difficult times.
We hope you will help us reach our fundraising goal of $200,000 to support our recalibrated veteran families. We appreciate your support and hope that you are all staying healthy and safe during this time!
Thank you for your understanding,
Travis Mills Foundation

This event has converted over to a virtual race!
Join the Travis Mills Foundation in Vassar, Michigan to support recalibrated veterans and their families! We run to remember the service and sacrifice of our nation's heroes. Join us in downtown Vassar, Michigan to run/walk the Miles for Mills 5k!
SSG Travis Mills who is a Vassar native was injured on April 10, 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan by an IED (improvised explosive device) while on patrol, losing portions of both legs and both arms. He is one of only five quadruple amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive his injuries. In September 2013, Travis and his wife Kelsey founded the Travis Mills Foundation, a nonprofit organization, formed to benefit and assist post 9/11 veterans who have been injured in active duty or as a result of their service to our nation. The veteran and their families receive an all-inclusive, all-expenses-paid, barrier-free vacation to Maine where they participate in adaptive activities, bond with other veteran families, and enjoy much-needed rest and relaxation in Maine’s great outdoors.
Proceeds from Miles for Mills benefit the Travis Mills Foundation's mission of supporting recalibrated veteran families in their life after service to our country. We support these veteran families through our national retreat in the Belgrade Lakes region of Maine.
