Helena Flats School is actively embarking on a crucial capital campaign to replace and modernize our community playground. This isn't just a simple refresh; it is a critical safety and accessibility project that will significantly enhance the quality of life for our students and the broader Flathead Valley community.
The current playground has served our school since 1988—37 years of devoted service—and it is now critically outdated. Beyond the visible signs of wear and tear, the structure no longer complies with modern safety requirements. Most importantly, it is not ADA compliant, preventing many students from engaging in the joy of recess. The lack of modern, accessible play spaces on the East side of the Flathead Valley, near Kalispell, makes this project even more vital for local families who currently have limited opportunities for safe recreation.
Our vision is to build more than just a compliant playground; we aim to create one of, if not the only, truly inclusive playground in the area. This new facility will include specialized structures designed to provide meaningful play opportunities for all students, regardless of physical ability. This commitment to exceeding minimum standards will solidify Helena Flats School as a leader in creating an equitable and welcoming environment.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and support of our efforts to improve our community and school environment.
