The Swain County Rescue Squad is an independent, non-profit emergency rescue service based in Bryson City, North Carolina. Serving the 540-square-mile area of Swain County and the Great Smoky Mountains, their highly trained team specializes in emergency response and rescue operations, including vehicle extrication and wilderness rescue services. Their dedication and commitment help keep both residents and visitors safe throughout the region.

The Nantahala Area SORBA (NAS) is a non-profit volunteer organization and local chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA). Their mission is to promote mountain biking, advocate for new trail development, and maintain existing trail systems across Western North Carolina. As of 2026, NAS serves as the primary steward of the 40+ mile Tsali Recreation Area trail system, helping preserve and enhance one of the most iconic outdoor recreation destinations in the Southeast.
