iDream Athletes Foundation Donations

Empowering Aspiring Western North Carolina Athletes Fletcher, NC 28732 US

Description

We are collecting donations for iDream Athletes Foundation.  It is the mission, duty and purpose of iDream Athletes Foundation to provide opportunities for Western North Carolina youth and adults who are unable to pay for sporting event fees, coaching, travel expenses and/or equipment to train for and/or participate in our WNC sporting events. This tax-exempt non-profit provides needs-based scholarships. The amounts to be gifted are determined on a case-by-case basis through a criteria-selection process. In addition, we will assist in fueling the growth for local running, cycling and multi-sport champions, teams, clubs, locally owned stores and communities in Western North Carolina by providing resource and financial support when conducting our key activities.

Winter Swim and Bike Leagues Help Create Community

A key way iDream Athletes Foundation gives back to the community is to help create a place for athletes to participate in sport together. The Winter Swim League and Winter Bike League are core programs we offer to swimmers and bikers of various ability levels.  In both of these multi-week leagues athletes come together with the direction of iDream staff and volunteers to learn more and participate in swimming or biking.

iDream provides coaching, ride routes, and structure at no cost.  These donation based programs are open to novices to competitive level participants.  We love to see aspiring athletes grow under the camaraderie and tutelage of knowledgeable coaches.  What's more fun than doing a sport you love, with a little bit of help, with lots of new friends who share your passion?

Sponsors of these events have included local business and individuals who want to help the Western North Carolina swimming and biking communities grow together in fellowship.  We invite you to help us provide more leagues, more coaching opportunities, and more wellness to even larger audiences.

Scholarships Help Dreams Grow

Meet Asheville’s Zach Tacy, an elite triathlete and iDream Athletes Foundation Scholarship recipient.  He recently completed the  Ironman Virginia 70.3 with a total time of 4:21:23. He PR’d by 10 minutes and was first in his age group, 8th overall, and qualified for the World Championships In Nice, France.

He also competed in the 70.3 World Championship in South Africa with a total time of 4:34:01 and placed 407th overall. He was 28th in his age group out of over 4,500 world athletes. Zach applied for and received funding from iDream to help with his travel expenses to the World Championships.

We are excited to be able to help support the hometown dreams of a local triathlete who has the dream to compete and the will to succeed.  Zach has competed in the Asheville Triathlon and even had a funny experience the first time he was in the bike transition. “The first time I did the Asheville Tri was also the first time I used clip-ins, and I totally fell in the transition zone,” Zach says, laughing. Biking, he admits, was not his strength. His advice? Practice the transition from bike to run at least once a week.

Will you be able to help support the next Western North Carolina Athlete pursue their dreams?  We would love to have your support to help make this happen. Donate today!
