Mike’s Run the Race 5k

Join us for our 1st annual "Mike's Run the Race" 5K. This family friendly event begins and ends at the Betty Ross Park on Saturday, April 28th, 2018, with the race taking place at the historic Marcia H. Cloninger Rail-Trail.

"Mike's Run the Race" 5K is named in memory of Rev. Michael H. Vanderburg who was killed on Dec 6, 2016 by a drunk driver. At the time of his death, Mike was the senior pastor of the Abundant Life Church of God in Hudson, NC and on that night, the world lost a beloved pastor, husband, father, son, brother and friend. Mike's love of foreign missions prompts us to keep his memory alive by raising the funds to build a church in Peru so that the Gospel will continually be spread to the residents of South America through his legacy. Mike also had a tremendous love of students and we desire to award two seniors with the Michael H. Vanderburg Scholarship in an effort to help two high school seniors ease the expense of secondary education.

We hope you will "Run the Race" with us on April 28th as we strive to live as Mike did by, "running the race with endurance that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith." (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Prizes awarded to 1st overall male/female top finisher and also to the top finishers per age category male/female.   12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+

T-shirts guaranteed for those registered by April 11th, 2018. They will be provided while supplies last for registrations received after that date. Sizes offered: Youth Small through Adult 3XL

Most of the race route is on the rail trail.

Packet Pick Up will be at Redemption Outreach Center, 700 Lithia Inn Road, Lincolnton, NC  28092 on Thursday, April 26th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
