Run Walk Crawl 4 Life 5K: For COTA in honor of Lainee

Lainee Jordan is a 14-year old Craven County teen in need of a life-saving heart transplant. She is currently on the transplant list at Duke's Children Hospital. Lainee was diagnosed at the age of 3-months old with a rare congenital heart disease called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Her heart is unable to pump efficiently enough to push oxygen rich blood to her organs and throughout her body. The heart will over work itself to try and  compensate to meet her bodily demands. It only grows larger and makes the contractions less effective. Doctors used medication to help slow her heart so that contractions are stronger and effective. She had her first open-heart surgery at 8-years old. Surgeons shaved off a part of her septum to attempt to reshape the heart so contractions would be effective to pump blood. Now, her medicines are no longer enough to keep her heart working correctly. Doctors have recommended a life-saving heart transplant. Lainee's parents and family have partnered with the Children's Organ Transplant Association to raise money for COTA in honor of Lainee to help with a lifetime of transplant related expenses. We are asking everyone to help give this young girl a second chance at life. All proceeds from the 5K will be donated to the Children's Organ Transplant Association in honor of Lainee Jordan.
