WEFTA Kitany Project—Running for Clean Water, Education & Dignity
The Capitol Ford Santa Fe International Half Marathon & Relay is proud to support the WEFTA Kitany Project, a community-led initiative in rural Kenya to bring clean water, sustainable farming, and educational opportunity to the village of Chebior, Kitany—the childhood home of our Race Director, Abraham Kosgei.
In Kitany, families still walk long distances to fetch water from the river. Children miss school. Women carry heavy loads. Fields have been stripped by drought, maize failures, and climate change. But together—with every step we run and every dollar we raise—we can restore balance.
Through this project, we’re partnering with WEFTA to build:
🚰 Safe, clean water systems for schools and health centers
🌱 Sustainable coffee farms to replace failing maize and stabilize income
🍽️ School meal programs so children stay in class, not in the fields
🏃🏿 Athletics and cultural tourism—offering immersive visits to run, farm, and connect with a land and people in transformation
This isn’t about quick fixes or charity drops. This is about dignity, sustainability, and resilience—led by the community, supported by global partners, and rooted in the soil.
