ISLAND Lab Virtual 5k

Hello and thank you for your participation in the ISLAND Lab 5k !

The goal of our ISLAND Lab 5k is to provide support for families and children facing financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, while also encouraging a fun and safe way to get active together! Although we cannot gather to participate in this activity, we can all run, walk, or bike on our own while practicing COVID-19 precautions for a great cause. Through this race, we hope to support the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services, which is a non-profit community-based comprehensive family service agency located in New York City.

                                                                                    Coalition for Hispanic Family Services (CHFS):

CHFS was founded in Bushwick, Brooklyn, a predominately Latino community, and continues to serve the most vulnerable and underserved families throughout the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. CHFS invests in children, youth, and families of color offering opportunities for growth, self-reliance and success while reinforcing their sense of culture and self-identity. This is achieved through a holistic, culturally competent, family focused, community-based approach to services. They serve over 7,000 children and families annually and offer foster care and adoption, mental health services, after school & summer programs, child abuse prevention, parenting support, and a community residence.
