This year, Helen's 5K Run/Walk will be held on September 20, 2026 for an in-person event at the Sands Point Preserve in Sands Point, New York, as well as a virtual event which can be done anywhere at anytime in the US from September 14 through September 26, 2026.
Every registration and/or donation helps to support communication access at the Helen Keller National Center (HKNC), which is essential for DeafBlind individuals to achieve independence: ASL interpreters, tactile interpreters, assistive technologies, and other communication support. These services enable everything from job training and workplace accommodations to community engagement and advocacy. Additionally, funds raised will also support Destiny Home in Port Washington, NY, the only OPWDD-certified group home in New York State serving DeafBlind individuals with intellectual disabilities.
This year's race captain is Maricar Marquez, HKNC's Supervisor of Independent Living. Maricar, who is DeafBlind, has competed in triathlons and was one of the first DeafBlind runners trained through Guiding Eyes for the Blind's Running Guides program.
Thank you for your support and helping us to reach our fundraising goal!
