Strathmore Parks Run 2024

In 1998, Jim Dwyer, Jr. died unexpectedly of cardiac failure at the young age of 31.  Jim grew up in the Strathmore neighborhood, went to Corcoran High School, LeMoyne College, and still lived in the area.   After his sudden death, his family wanted to honor his life and memory, so they organized the James J. Dwyer, Jr. Memorial Fund.  Initially, the fund purchased and sponsored training for Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) for many public spaces, including LeMoyne College and Syracuse University.  The family believes the availability of an AED may have helped Jim Dwyer when his heart suddenly stopped.  They hope to help others by making them more available. The funds also supports many worthwhile community efforts, including an annual scholarship for a college-bound senior at Corcoran High School and as principal sponsor of the Parks Run.
