Description
Join us for the 2nd Annual 9/11 Ceremony & Remembrance Walk, proudly hosted by the Adirondack Fallen Firefighter Project. This event is more than just a walk—it’s a powerful tribute to the brave men and women who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001, as well as to all firefighters and first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice both in the line of duty and in the years that followed.
As an organization dedicated to honoring fallen firefighters from the Adirondack region, our mission is to make sure their lives, their courage, and their legacy are never forgotten. Events like this are one way we keep their stories alive, inspire community reflection, and unite people in remembrance and gratitude.
In general, a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb event is designed to symbolically replicate the climb made by FDNY firefighters in the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001. That climb totaled 110 stories—or about 2,200 steps, which equals roughly 2 miles. To honor this heroic effort, we will walk approximately 2 miles through the town of Ticonderoga to simulate the symbolic climb and reflect on the strength and selflessness shown on that day.
We are currently awaiting approval to utilize the Ticonderoga Town Park as the location for this year's ceremony. If for any reason we are unable to secure that space, we will promptly announce an alternative location on our Facebook page—please follow us there for the latest updates.
🎽 Registration is $20 and includes a commemorative t-shirt.
👣 All are welcome—walkers, families, firefighters, veterans, students, and community members of all ages and backgrounds.
When the Adirondack Fallen Firefighter Project hosts events like this, it brings the community together in a truly meaningful way. We create moments to educate, honor, and remember. It’s about showing respect, building awareness, and connecting people across generations. Your participation helps keep these stories alive—and supports our continued mission, including the restoration of our 1989 Pierce Dash tribute fire truck.
Whether you walk, stand in silence, or come to support, your presence makes a difference. Together, we remember. Together, we walk.
