Proceeds from Rainbow Weekend benefit the Portage County Pride Fund (PoCo Pride Fund), which was established in 2025 in response to the closure of support centers on Kent State University's campus due to changes in legislation. Recognizing the impact these closures have had on students and local residents, the Portage Foundation created this fund to provide meaningful, local support. Individuals wishing to support the PoCo Pride Fund directly can do so by submitting a donation below. 100% of your donation will go to the fund.
The mission of the PoCo Pride Fund is to mobilize resources and support inclusive organizations and initiatives to advance equity for LGBTQ+ people in Portage County, especially for those who are most marginalized. PoCo Pride offers grant programs to local organizations that offer resources, education, or outreach for LGBTQ+ individuals and families in Portage County as well as short-term financial aid for Portage County LGBTQ+ college students facing immediate needs related to food, housing, medical care, or transportation.
In the face of discrimination, adversity, and those who would diminish our identities, choosing to celebrate, to love openly, to laugh together, and to build community is a powerful declaration that we belong. Our joy affirms that we are not defined by the challenges we face, but by the lives we create and the hope we share. Let's share in the mission of PoCo Pride by bolstering this fund even more, if you are able. Every little bit counts, and we appreciate your donation.
