The Richfield Heritage Preserve is a 336-acre preserve offering visitors access to lakes, streams and wooded trails any day of the year from dawn to dusk.
For years, Richfield area citizens had wondered about the wooded property surrounded by a chain link fence. Owned by the Girl Scouts of America, girls from “as far as” Cuyahoga County camped there. Entrance to the property was strictly prohibited to keep the girls safe as they enjoyed all it had to offer.
That all changed in 2014, when the Western Reserve Land Conservancy entered into an agreement with the Girl Scouts to purchase the property. Richfield citizens voted to take ownership of the park through a voter-initiated bond levy to pay for the purchase of the property as well as a 10-year operating levy.
