It is imperative that our community recognize, embrace, understand, and help those who struggle with mental health. One in five Americans are affected by mental illness in their lifetime, and two-thirds of the people who have a mental illness do not seek the help that they need. With The Mental Health Heroes Virtual 5K Race, you are given the opportunity to highlight the importance of exercise as a coping strategy and end the stigma associated with mental health. This is the first of many outlets that will be created to give a face to this issue, a voice to the community, and an understanding of the coping strategies for the common issues regarding mental health. Take a stand, put on your running shoes, and become a Mental Health Hero today! Donations are appreciated. All donations will be submitted directly to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
There's a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, but one thing remains clear: people need access to mental health care and support. NAMI is here to ensure that no one is alone on their mental health journey.
