Over the past 16 months, our church community has served 2 meals a day to those sleeping at our facility every night in need of shelter. Our current kitchen has been well used and well loved for 50 years and is in dire need of repair. Northside Community Church is building a kitchen for our city that will service any dietary and nutritional needs of our community. We have established multiple community partnerships and practical applications of a community kitchen that will be a benefit to many sectors of our city.
Purpose: A kitchen for our community that will ensure that anyone in our city can have access to food and food services.
Strategy: A community kitchen that will:
1) Support professionals working with houseless communities
Emergency shelters, organizations and medical professionals can utilize the kitchen to prepare food for anyone (current partnerships with emergency shelters, Providence Medical professionals, and community organizations)
2) Provide a consistent time, location and resource for anyone needing sustenance
A place where the community and its service providers can offer consistent meals, a consistent location, and at a consistent time for every day of the week. (Partnerships with Love Inc, local churches, and community organizations)
3) Provide a place for nutrition, culinary medicine and culinary training to alleviate the need for sustenance assistance (Partnerships with nutritionists, culinary experts, health care providers, Providence, and social programming)
