Description

This is a virtual 5k (and virtual 1 miler for kids) to raise money for Cutch's Crew/Pirates Charities.  I’ve been running for Cutch’s Crew (Pirates Charities) in the Pittsburgh Half Marathon for the past 3 years. This charity does a lot of great things for the youth in the city of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas (click here for more information).

Each participant will earn an AWESOME FINISHER’S MEDAL while supporting Cutch’s Crew/Pirates Charities in the process! For this race in particular, I’m asking everyone to run a 5k (3.1 miles) and kids can run 1 mile. You can submit finishing times and/or pictures to me and I’ll post them to recognize your efforts on our facebook page!

Thank you for participating and supporting Pirates Charities!

What is a virtual race? A virtual race is a race that can be ran at any location. You can walk, run, or crawl! You can use the treadmill, run outside or participate in another race and count it toward this one. Basically, you can run, walk, or crawl the distance at your pace wherever and whenever you like.

Thanks for running for a cause!

About the Charity

Pirates Charities is committed to strengthening the community by supporting organizations and programs aimed at improving the lives of children and adults in the greater Pittsburgh region. Pirates Charities places a special emphasis on supporting youth programs focused on health, fitness, and education by developing partnerships with those who share in our mission

Pittsburgh Pirates centerfielder and All-Star, Andrew McCutchen, is teaming up with Pirates Charities to host a charity team for the 2015 Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon called CUTCH'S CREW. All proceeds from the Cutch's Crew team will be dispersed into the many great community programs that Pirates Charities works with in the Western PA region.

Some of the work of Pirates Charities include:

MIRACLE LEAGUE FIELDS: The Miracle League concept was developed in Conyers, GA in 2000 to help children with special needs play the game of baseball. Most Miracle Leagues play on custom-designed fields that feature cushioned, rubberized surfaces to help prevent injuries, accessible dugouts and completely flat surfaces (no raised bases or pitching mounds) to eliminate any barriers to wheel-chair bound or visually impaired players. For more information about the Miracle League Fields click here.

Fields For Kids: The Pirates Charities Fields for Kids program provides financial support to improve youth baseball and/or softball facilities via matching grants to nonprofit organizations and local government units that operate baseball and/or softball programs. For more info, click here.

It's a GREAT CAUSE and you're Awesome for supporting it!!!!

HERE'S OUR NEW MEDAL FOR 2016!
