As many of you have heard the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has cancelled all events at Presque Isle State Park. This includes the Abram Sorek Memorial Race on April 11th. Our primary concern is always for the safety of our runners, volunteers, and team members.
We asked you, our family, friends and supporters what you would like to do. You all tossed around many good options. Unfortunately, there is still so much uncertainty we feel it is best to transition to a virtual race.
Please join the virtual run and feel the accomplishment of running the distance with Abe in your heart, at a location of your choice. As virtual runners, you will still get your 2020 Abe’s Race Shirt and Bib. Pick-up will be scheduled for a later date. To continue to keep Abe’s memory alive with this very special race read below to see how it works…
1) Sign up for the virtual run between now and May 11th, then choose which distance (10K, 5K, or 1 Mile) you would like to complete or switch to the virtual race and distance. See below for links.
2) Receive your event shirt and bib at a later pick-up date with a paid registration. Or you may donate a minimum of $3.95 through the Run Sign Up site, it will be shipped to the address you sign up with.
3) Choose your own route in your neighborhood, favorite park, treadmill or whatever safe location you choose and run/walk/jog the distance to complete the virtual run!
4) Submit your result if you'd like to be added to the online results to abramsorekmemorialrace@gmail.com

We thank you all for being a part of this wonderful group by sharing in Abe's memory. We would also like you to remember all net proceeds for this event are donated.
A portion is given each your for the Abram Sorek Memorial Scholarship and the Crime Victim Center of Erie County (CVC). If you are not familiar with CVC, their staff provided support and guidance to families impacted by any type of crime as well as sexual violence. Whether it is crisis or supportive counseling, hospital and/or court advocacy, assistance in filing for restitution or victims compensation; this includes hospital bills or burial funding. They are there when no one else is to ensure all of the important legal issues are covered and healing can begin.
You would think that this pandemic would reduce acts of crime but unfortunately it has not. CVC is on the front lines during this pandemic ensuring men, women and children who are sexual assaulted or victims of any type of crime are taken care of in the best possible way.
The funds Crime Victim Center receive from Abe's Race are the only funds they get during this time of year and go specifically towards helping families like ours and providing prevention education to childing in schools. So, please help us help them.
